Today I found this question in my inbox:
Anonymous asked you: “What is the meaning of your icon? Can we see it larger?”
I want to start answering this question with a little story:
About 2 years ago I stumbled upon the webshop of a great American artist, FullBleed (aka Rob Dobi), and I bought some of the T-Shirts he designed. A few months later, at New Year’s Eve 2010 (right before I started this blog), a friend of mine took a picture of me wearing one of these shirts (“Clean Sweep”).
On the next day I signed up to Tumblr and needed a profile picture. I was going through my archive and found the said picture. My friend Photoshop and me fooled around a little bit & had fun with creating a so-called rotational ambigram (“BS”), an art form I fell in love with when I first saw this wonderful Aerosmith logo.
Voilà, ready was the profile pic.
Today I removed my hand from the picture, because I think it’s really hard for people to recognize it without knowing that story (a funny coincidence is that I thought about doing that just a few hours before I received that question).
I can only surmise what exactly the artist wanted to express with that design - for me the stars stand for dreams (or goals) in life. So, sweeping stars from the sky could either stand for working on fulfilling one’s dreams (“reach for the stars”), or working on destroying one’s dreams (e.g. by working in a shitty job that prevents you from doing the things you love or something like that). I guess this ambiguity is what I love about that motive.
It’s really hard for me to put this all into English as it’s not my first language, but I hope you got the essence of what I was trying to say.

Yesterday I played tourist in my hometown (see previous post). I went to the same spot where Andreas Lehne was standing 111 years ago, took a photograph of how the place looks like today and merged the two into a single picture.
Thanks to the lady who gave me shelter under her umbrella so the lens wouldn’t get wet, and also thanks to Sergey Larenkov for the inspiration.
